Okay, as much as we love Beverly Hills Cop (and Family Guy), we've actually got a more important topic to cover here. The Austin Film Festival is continuing its popular Conversations in Film series this Sunday, August 5th, with a special session on Story and Structure: What to Think About Before You Write the Script. Leading this conversation is none other than Dan Petrie, Jr., who's worked on such top films as Turner and Hooch, Toy Soldiers, Dead Silence, The Big Easy, and--last but totally the opposite of least--Beverly Hills Cop. In addition to working on these fine movies, Petrie has served as President of the Writers Guild of America, west, Inc., and is a member of the Boards of Trustees of the Writers Guild Foundation and of the American Film Institute. He possesses a breadth of knowledge and depth of experience guaranteed to help aspiring screenwriters gain perspective on their craft.

Petrie will lead the conversation on "Story and Structure" from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, August 5th, at the Arboretum Courtyard Marriott. The session will be followed by--you guessed it--a special archival screening of Beverly Hills Cop at the Regal Arbor Cinema at 4pm. AFF members pay just $20 for the seminar and screening, while tickets run $25 for everyone else. Separate tickets may be made available to the movie only.
