The Save Town Lake contigency seems pretty happy about the renaming and is gleefully conscripting the late Mrs. Johnson into their movement. All of the lakes in Texas (except Caddo Lake on the LA border) are dammed up rivers. In Texas, we call a dammed up river a "lake."

Except it's not really a lake. This naming Town Lake Lady Bird Lake seems a bit of a shortsighted gesture. I bet the city just did it to piss off the Save Town Lake contingency. God bless 'em.

Ann W. Richards Congress Ave. is the new name for the Congress bridge (or the whole Ave., I guess). And, for the record it is LBL, not LBJ. She is the main, if not only, reason Town Lake is habitable, recreationally speaking. Lady Bird Lake... has a nice ring. Though, yes, I suspect I will still call it Town Lake, too.
