Like ladies? Like film? We've got the festival for you! Austin's own Femme Film Texas will be rolling some festival films next weekend at the Hideout Theatre. It's a bit too late to get your own film into the festival, but come check out the offerings and plan your entry for next year.
The Femme Film Texas Festival focuses on bringing new perspectives to the screen. This year's festival theme is Identity, Perception, and Reality, placing further emphasis on the relationships between these three factors in filmmaking. The fest is guaranteed to open your eyes to different perspectives, both on-screen and off. The group's executive director, Michelle Voss, feels "it is vital that our programs engage a diverse group of young women so we can continue to see more diverse voices on screen."
Festival categories include narrative feature, narrative short, documentary feature, documentary short, experimental / video art, and youth (filmmakers ages 10-18). Awards will be given in the narrative and documentary categories (feature and short) at the end of the festival.
Head on down to the Hideout next Saturday for the chance to see some up-and-coming new filmmakers and challenge your perception of what film is.
