Earlier today, we told you about the Pinker Tones show happening at Mohawk tonight. Well, things change kids. We've notified our winners from this afternoon, and now we're notifying you: the Pinker Tones have canceled but the show will go on, with White Denim.
White Denim will be playing at midnight, filling the hole in the lineup for the evening, confirming our unwavering opinion that these fellas are true work horses. Grab your umbrella and head downtown -- they always put on a great show. What's even better is they've sweetened the deal: the show is now $4, not the previous door price of $12. That's 8 extra dollars to drink with, folks.

WOW. Im off the couch.
It's a blessing The Pinker Tones couldn't make it. I was embarassed for the sound guys last night during White Denim's set. There were no vocals for the first four songs and when vocals finally came in they were over ridden by static at times. You could tell the guys in White Denim were frustrated. If it had been any other place besides their home at Mohawk...they likely would have walked off stage.
Astronautalis was amazing. I have been a fan for a while and I'm really glad to see his fan base growing each time he visits.
Walk off the stage? Who are these guys? Guns and Roses?
They DIDN'T walk off. White Denim wouldn't do that to their fans and their home bar. I honestly think they should have though. People that have never heard them before probably think they are horrible after last night. The sound was really that bad for their set (and their set only). You know what they say about first impressions...
Were you kids at the same show I was? I remember the mics cutting out, but I also remember the show being sweet. Id rather see them then the pinkertones any day.
The mics were live for sound check. Then as soon as they started playing they were out for the first four songs. They attempted to fix it but they kept cutting out and getting static. There were two songs at the end where everything worked. White Denim was awesome. I've heard them before so I knew what to expect. They rock pretty hard.
I'm just glad it happened to people that know shows at Mohawk aren't usually like that. It would have been unfortunate for a band from Spain to come into our house and get that kind of sound.
I had a blast! I didn't mean my post to sound pessimistic at all. I was just saying I was glad it happened to a regular headliner rather than a headliner from abroad.
word up, milkman. you are a good soul. long live white denim!
don't get me wrong, i love white denim, and i also really enjoy mohawk and go there on a regular basis, but i don't, however enjoy the people they hire to do their sound. this wasn't the first show i've been to where the sound was completely f*cked for at least part of the show. this is at least the 3rd show i've been to there w/ f*cked up sound within the past four months. and i won't even begin to comment on the unnecessarily loud volume level of the live acts.
also, the lights on the stage and under the awning were so bright and flashed so much that i was afraid of having a seizure, and i'm NOT an epileptic.
honestly, the only complaint i have about mohawk other than the random crappy band or dj (like the other acts last night *gag*), is that a lot of times they don't seem to have their shit together, which is a shame because otherwise it's a great place.
so in conclusion, white denim was awesome, as usual, but unfortunately mohawk didn't do them justice last night.
