Austinist Giveaway: Thoroughly Modern Millie

millie_2.jpgFor the last few years, the good people at St. Edwards University and Zilker Theatre Productions have quietly been running a very nifty little summer program for high school students called Summer Stock Austin. The program is essentially its own theatre company; high school students perform and work side-by-side with experienced college students in an environment that's staffed and supervised by seasoned professionals. The outcome, after several weeks of intensive work and training, is two fully-staged musicals...to critically acclaimed results.

This year's shows are Thoroughly Modern Millie and Assassins. Millie opens this weekend, with a gala on Friday evening, two shows on Saturday, and two shows on Sunday. Assassins opens next weekend and the two run in repertory through Sunday, August 5.

To kick things off, we're dropping free tickets for three of this weekend's performances of Thoroughly Modern Millie. As if you didn't already know, the show is based on the 1967, award-winning film about a small-town Midwestern girl (played by Julie Andrews) on adventures in 1920’s New York. To score a pair, just pick your favorite date, call your favorite date, and hope for the best.

Congratulations winners!

If you didn't win, don't fret. You can purchase tickets for a reasonable $10-15 by calling the MMNT box office: 448-8484.
