Friday the 13th is good for you, kids. Don't let folks tell you differently!

Hope your Friday is going fabulously for you, peeps! I'm preparing quite a feast for the ears for tonight's Laurie Show on KUT 90.5. Special thanks are in order for Kevin Adickes of Moth!Fight! and Nic Saldana of VISITORS for providing some new CDs for me to feature tonight, and to Aaron Behrens of Ghostland Observatory for chatting with me before his Austin City Limits taping gig with musical partner in crime, Thomas Turner.

Behrens even recalled our first interview together for a Ghostland profile I did for Before the Break - a venture away from the confines of Music Lab on St. Elmo out to the Montopolis bridge by the river. With tongue in cheek, I kept the microphone on as we walked out by the water and made up a horrific story, much to the amusement of Behrens and Turner: "They had me tied up in the trunk of the car, then took me out to the river to be dumped..."

It's a joke, people. Don't take that seriously. And for those individuals making inquiries - despite it's sloooow pace, Before the Break is not dead. It's alive and well, with new episodes on the way. Yes, you've heard that from me before, but it ain't no lie, peeps.

There is plenty of live music tonight to make Friday the 13th even more stellar and exciting, kids. At Hole In the Wall, you can catch performances by Cat Scientist, Darling New Neighbors and Many Birthdays during the Inside Books Project Benefit. The Inside Books Project provides books to individuals incarcerated in Texas. You can visit the website for more information.

The Mohawk is also the place to be for another great show. Two of my personal favorites, SUNSET (hello, Mr. Bill Baird) and the wonderful Karrie Hopper, share the bill tonight with Secret Slideshow and Listen, Listen. Good stuff all around, peeps, so check it. Over at the Beauty Bar, Johnny Goudie and Haunting Oboe Music provide the music, while at the Parish on 6th St., a rowdy good time is guaranteed by the likes of the very groovy Ugly Beats, Tiger!Tiger!, and Automusic. Shake it like you mean it.

Another early gig alert! After work today, zoom over to Cheapo Discs at 914 N. Lamar for an instore performance by Parks and Wildlife, beginning at 6 p.m. Hustle, now!

Saturday the 14th is also of great importance, my fine fiends - especially on your music calendar. Enjoy another instore performance, this time at End of An Ear on South 1st St. by Virgin of the Birds, a.k.a. John Rooney. His latest album, Mixed Choir, was produced by my pal Shawn Jones of The Lovely Sparrows, and Jones will join Rooney for the instore gig.

Later in the evening is a show by one of my favorite madmen, Scott H. Biram, at the Continental Club on S. Congress. The Weary Boys get the show going first. Over at the Mohawk, Golden Bear headlines another great gig featuring The Laughing, Corto Maltese, and Buttercup.

A few shows I'd like to remind of happening next week: Absolutely make time to see Horse + Donkey at the Mohawk for the funky-freaky Hot Freaks! event on Tuesday, with Double Plus Good also on the bill.

Wednesday night, the Unbearables take over the Mohawk stage, along with Winter Sounds, Noise Revival Orchestra, and Fiction. And down the street at Emo's on the same night, the incredible Black Joe Lewis will blow you away with his phenomenal style of blues as part of his CD release party. He'll be backed by his new band, Honey Bear, and the show starts with openers The Strange Boys and Human Being Lawnmower. Excellent, friends.

Time to assemble the playlist, kids, but I expect you to join me: 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. tonight, KUT 90.5 on your FM frequency. Stream it if you wish from the KUT website. As always, in the esteemed words of RoboCop, thank you for your cooperation.

Hey, kids. Sorry for my tardiness! Better late than never. And thanks for making my show on Friday lots of fun. Cheers and DON'T behave.

The Unbearables are debuting BRAND NEW MUSIC of awesomeness on Wednesday night. (Trufax.) Tell your friends/other assorted people!

Also, the people we're playing with are rumored to rock (with Noise Revival Orchestra having an actual confirmation of rocking).

Deeelightful! Count me in on the rawk!

Black Joe Lewis is awesome - did anyone see him open for Little Richard? Gotta love a blues song called "Bitch, I Love You."
