Screen Door Film Brings Shorts for Summer

aftermath_07-05-07.jpgThese days, when it ain't raining, it's blazing hot--definite shorts weather. So put on your short-shorts and head over to Salvage Vanguard Theatre next Wednesday for an assortment of offbeat short movies, all of which will quench your thirst for knowledge just like a Shiner quenches actual thirst. From car crashes to dead dogs to hustlas from Galveston, these films have it all:

The Aftermath on Meadowlark Lane (David and Nathan Zellner)
A car crash causes reflection and confession between mother and sons. Mariachis are involved.

The Next Tim Day (Ben Steinbauer)
Tim Day works his way out of the projects and into the Sundance Film Festival with "Hood News."

End of a Dog (John Morgan)
Dog dies, search for burial site ensues.

Death to the Tinman (Ray Tintori)
Bet you never knew the Tinman lost his heart because of an evil firefighter conspiracy.

Loops (M.H. Dhar)
NYC caddies experience birdies, bogeys, and the occasional hole in one.

Ballyvaughan Story (Sara Pocock)
Haunting charcoal drawing animation of a young Irish girl's quest to save her family during the Irish Revolution. True story narrated by the girl's son.

How to Build A Volcano (Benjamin Hayes)
Volcanoes serve as metaphors for suppressed emotion.
