Twenty-one People Hospitalized for Exposure to Hazardous Materials

Twenty-one people were taken to the hospital this morning after being exposed to a hazardous material at a dental appliance office near Cameron Road and 290 East. Not many details are available yet, but our first guess for the material is nitrous oxide, which can be harmful in high concentrations. But that's just a guess.

Hopefully more information will be available soon . . .

1:30 Update: 24 people from the office have been hospitalized, and officials suspect that carbon monoxide is the culprit. [Statesman]

Don't forget that mercury is a toxic material. To remove mercury fillings requires someone with knowledge or you can kill some one. The new twisted light bulbs come with a warinig to call the EPA if you brake one. One lady did and cost her $2,000+ to clean it up because it was considered a toxic waste site.

Wait, by dental appliance office, do they mean a grill shop?

Nitrous oxide at a dental lab? It's more likely the offending agent was acrylic monomer i.e., the nail salon smell.
