Fashion Shows, Trunk Shows and The Next Big Thing
- Fred Flare, an online boutique for all things cutesy, hosted a next BIG thing contest, and Austinite Jennifer Danielle Perkins — of Naughty Secretary Club fame — is one of the 27 winners. Jennifer submitted a bangin' DIY charm bracelet kit (see right). Project Runway winner Jay McCarroll is also a winner — although based on the looks of his bowling bag, this might be a step down for him.
- Rare magazine is hosting a Rock Star Fashion Show featuring live music and clothing from local boutiques this Friday at The Mohawk. For more information about the show, and to print out a ticket for admission, go here.
- The Runway to Heaven fashion show announced this year's designers here. Runway to Heaven is organized by Heart House, a free after-school program for low-income children. All proceeds go to building a second after-school center. The show takes place at the University of Texas' Etter-Harbin Alumni Center August 24th.
- Austin Tidbits touted two must-go-to trunk sales: Joanna Louca will be at Kick Pleat selling her edgy yet classically constructed handbags on Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. Also, jewelry designer Kendra Scott is having a Summer Sample Sale here Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. All proceeds from that show benefit Lifeworks.
