Ballsy Blonde Embarks on National Crime Spree!
It's always awesome when Austinites earn national recognition — unless it's coming from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Back in May, a 20-something-year-old woman robbed a Northwest Austin Wachovia bank, while sporting a UT cap and a rather confident smile. The sassy lady evidently had such a good go of her first robbery that she took her one-woman-act to the west coast.
According to the FBI's "WANTED" poster, the "Ponytail Bandit" is believed to have also robbed banks in Roseville, California, and Lynnwood, Washington. In all three cases, her M.O. remained the same: shoulder-length blonde ponytail pulled through the back of a baseball cap, she'd simply saunter into the building, demand money from a teller, and walk out.
She's also characterized by a rather unique waiting line stance: arms crossed and shoulders slouching forward ever so slightly, the stick-thin Ponytail Bandit bears a striking resemblance to one Montgomery Burns.

Reminds me of Pulp Fiction, but apparently you don't even need a phone to rob a bank these days.. just walk in and ask for some money.
How come the FBI page says "should be considered armed and dangerous"?
Why are we so quick to claim things as "ours"? It doesn't say anything about her being from Austin. She probably wore a Longhorns hat to appear more anonymous in Texas.
What a great disguise! She looks like 90% of the female population at any Texas university!
Why do you keep reporting this as a "ballsy blonde" and that she's "sassy"? Can't Austinist edit out sexist overtones like this? In the next robbery involving a guy, make sure you report it as a "Ballsy Brunette Sassily Robs Bank."
How effective is the tactic of simply "demanding money from the teller?"
how the fuck is it possible for someone to rob a bank with security personel, cameras, emergency buttons, etc. without a weapon, threat of force or even imposing presense? jesus fucking christ.
