Austinist Preview: the Rosebuds with Land of Talk, Early Tapes @ the Parish Room

The Rosebuds may have an overtly cute band name, and they are, well, rather delightful to lo look at, but they're not just another pop act getting by on their charm and good looks. Think of them as New Order run through an art-rock filter then sloshed around with some of disco's best bits.

The band's bounced around a bit stylistically, and they went so far as to tell us a few months ago, "We're not a real band, we're more of an art project, so we don't really have a 'sound.'" Art or music, we're not so worried, all we know is that it sounds like a good time.The duo's latest effort, Night of the Furies is full of the sort of dance music that won't kill your street cred. Pop it in at parties after everyone's had a few and the guests will likely find themselves busting a move in no time flat. Or, you can test out your dance moves with the Rosebuds live in person tonight at the Parish Room.
