Austinist Giveaway: Menomena, All Smiles at The Parish

meno.jpg

This is completely subjective, but it's good to see that The Parish is once again hosting some halfway compelling indie-rockers. After some changes in management, resulting in some rather bizarre talent decisons, perhaps our old stomping grounds is returning to form? One can only hope.

That's neither here nor there this evening as we are blessed by a visit from Portland trailblazers (har har) Menomena in all their precocious glory. Riding high on the ubiquitous ballyhoo generated by their newest LP Friend and Foe, they've got credibility to burn, and a hammerlock on a formidable fan base. Also, album artwork by artist/graphic novel golden boy Craig Thompson. Tonight, Austin gets a chance to see if their live show lives up to the buzz. In addition, Grandaddy guitarist Jim Fairchild's new solo project All Smiles is opening hoping to make the crowd do just that. P.S. His music sounds nothing like the now-defunct Grandaddy, so don't even go there. Do, however, go to The Parish tonight for what will no doubt be a helluva show.

What's that you say? Got fired from Little Ceaser's for cribbing from the mozzarella bin and you're strapped for cash? Alright, alright. I think we have a few tickets left over.

Fill in the form, you pitiful creature:
