Black Rebel Motorcycle Club @ La Zona Rosa

If you were planning on sitting at home tonight knitting and listening to Lawrence Welk or something, we highly recommend you redirect your energies towards one of the fine rock 'n' roll shows that's going to be gracing our city tonight. Maybe Black Rebel Motorcycle Club would be up your alley?

Call it garage rock, call it blues revival, but regardless, the sound is all guitars, all the time, acoustic and electric jangling along together like they're BFF. Think about the MC5 or the Stooges or Guitar Wolf with snatches of heartland arena rock, classic psychedelic and folk tossed in for balance.

The band is out on tour in support of Baby 81, which dropped this May on Red Int/Red Ink. The album is being heralded as definitive proof that BRMC is going to have more staying power than most of the other garage rocking buzz bands of this decade. We're not really so worried about that. The band's theoretical future legacy aside, they're bringing the rock 'n' roll to the stage at La Zona Rosa right here in the present.
