There is so much to do here, so many friends' bands to go see, bars to go to, parties to attend, etc. etc. that people here seem to like to keep their options open. people actually seem pretty self-involved in this town, so they want to look out for #1 and having the best possible time. relationships can be tough work and not always 'fun' and 'laid-back,' so in a city (and city full of people) that thinks it is so easy going and full of fun, it seems people aren't really inclined to get serious. so, yea, it is good for perpetual singles.

Austin's a good city to STAY single in-- note the difference. There's so many young-ish people here that there definitely seems to be a disincliniation to commit.

I hated DC as a single gal! But, I've been on lotsa dates since being back in Austin so I guess I agree that part. Just had a first kiss last night actually... *swoon*

According to the Gittenlaid Indicator, Austin doesn't fare as well as other cities. Dallas seems to hold more luck for me in that area than other cities as of late. Marlene is right about DC. If it weren't so congested and you didn't have to pay to park everywhere you went there (including stores like Best Buy) then I would consider it. There is tail everywhere down there...especially around Georgetown!

I just moved here from DC, lived there for 6 years, and I moved here to be with my BF who lives in Austin... uh yeah.. DC sucks for singles, especially single women, more chicks than dicks in DC believe it or not.
