Dan Deacon tonight at Emo's: You Better Dance

This is not a joke. This is serious. Dan Deacon is coming to Emo's tonight, and you must put on your dancing shoes. If you are the kind that doesn’t wear a costume for Halloween or doesn’t show up to a Longbranch Inn Sock Hop dressed in 1950s attire, take caution: tonight, such nonsense will not be allowed.

The kind of nonsense that will be allowed: bright colors, loss of inhibitions, the embrace of childhood, electronic sound manipulation, singing, silly/weird dancing, a Looney Toons t-shirt. Deacon is not known for "hunching" (i.e. over turntables) but rather his manic dancing and collaborative shows. In fact, we sent out word a while ago about Dan's request for singing accompaniment, so expect to see 8 lucky locals joining in with the performance as the Wham City choir.

Based in Baltimore, Deacon is actually an electronic (some have called it "absurdist") music composer; he went to school for it and everything! Unjaded by academia, Deacon says, "I try to write music that I think, if like, really cool 6-year-olds got together and had this stuff, and they were like, 'Let's write the most awesome music ever,' this is hopefully what they would come up with."

Joining Dan's dance party show are wild-electro acts Video Hippos and The Carnys, so please leave your TC* attitude at the door. Join us!

This contest is now closed. Thank you to all who entered and congratulations to our winners!

friendly inquiry as to whether those glasses and t-shirt are still commercially available.

those birds...they seem to represent some manner of parrot/toucan/flamingo/turkey hybrid. unattractive, but probably very delicious in a sandwich.
