"He Works His Wonders, So Fast and Clean!"

Joe.jpg Do you know this man? Unless you watch too much News 8 Austin or late night local television, you might not know that this man's name is Air Co Joe of local air conditioning, heating and plumbing company Air Co Mechanical, an Austin business that's been operating for over 20 years. They cool down, heat up, and unclog the CSC Buildings and Austin City Hall.

The folks at Air Co have created a jingle straight out of the 80's GI Joe cartoon. Click here to listen.

He's the superhero, who saves the day when your home is too hot or too cold. No more worries and never a mess, situation under control! No job too tough to fix in a flash, affordable work guaranteed to last! Call Airco Joe! (454-COOL!) The name you know! (Airco Mechanical!) AIR CO is the hero inside your hooooome!

Joe doesn't just represent a humble air conditioning company: he's the latest icon in the canon of epic Austin jingles, officially joining the ranks of the country Thundercloud tune, the poppy "stand by you" ballad of Henna Chevrolet, or the adolescent yodeling of Kim Marie Lynn of Chapman Motors.

YES! Adam, that would be Star Tech PC. The Asian guy on the left blinks way too much also.

I see that "WE'LL KILL YOUR BUGS!" guy in my darkest dreams... he really freaks me out. What about those muscley laptop and computer guys who shake hands for too long? That too freaks me out.

Yes, websters. The freakin' song VIRUS that is Ellis and SaLAYzar...bop bop. UGH.

Also, "For pest control and lawn care call...ABC Pest and Lawn!" That one's a mighty long jingle too.

As for non-musical Austin wonders, I love the announcer for the Greenhouse Mall: "Call two-five-oh, OH! oh, Oh-oh!"

I would be angry about someone converting yet another cultural touchstone into cheap consumerism, but since the cartoon show was all about selling toys, too, this time it's okay by me.

No, I was just a little confused. Because it starts out like an ad. I think maybe if the last paragraph had been first I might have got it.

"We are Austin's break specialists...you'll like what we do"

Thanks to freakin' Bill Dickason no matter wherever I go in this life I'll be compelled to "Seeya in Capital Kia." Gaaaahhh!!!

Did you even listen to the song?? Austin's got some pretty good jingles, this is just another one.

I realize this post was rushed a bit and therefore the meaning (albeit lame) may be a little lost, but the only reason this went up is because the song is about a minute long, sung like an 80's action cartoon intro, is funny as hell and is for an (Austin) air conditioning company!
