The long spring has been wonderful. But now it's getting warmer, things are getting slower, and Austin is quieting down a bit for the summer. Not as much as in past years, we admit, but at least crazy Longhorn alum won't be overtaking I-35 for football games. And with a quiet summer music schedule, we're looking forward to delving in to the local scene. We here at Austinist will be your guide, so keep your eyeballs peeled for show previews and reviews.
Tonight brings us a line-up of some lovely locals at Emo's lounge. Headlining the show are Pompeii, a 3-year-old indie rock/pop band compared to the likes of Coldplay and Death Cab For Cutie. Weird comparisons, but ok, we're cool. And we're just happy to see someone play something other than the typical guitar-drums-bass setup; at least Pompeii's got a cello. Opening acts include Ryan Lindsey (of Starlight Mints and Cheyenne), Gazelles (from Dallas), and Austin-based The Heirs. It's sure to be a good early summer evening. See you there?
Congrats, winner!
