A tribute to all things DIY and zany robotic wizardry, the second annual Maker Faire was held last weekend in San Mateo, California. Drawing a crowd numbering in the tens of thousands, the MAKE magazine-sponsored festival featured hundreds of awesome, if ridiculous, creations by engineers, artists, inventors, and other people possessed of an excess of free time and an over-abundance of imagination.
Just some of the nifty stuff on display included a Lego Star Destroyer (assembled from "thousands of building blocks"), a moonshine-powered car engine, and a MIDI-playing musical kitchen.
Not content to be out-geeked, Austin will hold its own Maker Faire this October at the Travis County Fairgrounds. We'll keep you posted as more information is made available.
Below and after the jump are just some of the many YouTube clips taken by festival goers.

Survival Research Labs' performance took a turn for the worst when the "giant cardboard-and-paper egg" caught on fire, spewing ash and smoke into the crowd.
