We’ve already given you heaps of suggestions of what to get mother dearest for her special day (err, which is right around the corner), but if you’re still panicking – or you just happen to love jewelry – you should go to the biannual Blanton Museum Shop's Spring Trunk Show this weekend.
“Because our new store is opening next year, we have very limited space. So, we have five people come and set up tables in the atrium,” says Mary Douthit, Museum Shop Manager. Those five designers are Natalie Tischler, Ingrid Kuper, Danette Ward, Benita Giller and R. Sobral – and all of their work is very different from each other’s. Sobral, from Brazil, creates colorful and bright Lucite jewelry, while Benita’s work includes small objects covered with beads, and Natalie (Ornamental Things) reconstructs costume jewelry.
FYI: Mary says members of the museum get a 20 percent discount on all purchases. With that, you can even get some wrapping paper…
