Check Yourself Before You Wreck Yourself
- Last week, the suspect of the attempted bombing of the Austin Women's Health Center is thought to have attempted suicide while in jail. Paul Ross Evans, who has a bail hearing today, was alone in his cell when he tore apart a disposable plastic razor and cut his arm with the metal razor. It was a bad enough wound to need stitches, and now Evans is on "medical watch" (which seems to be like a suicide watch). He is facing the possibility of a life sentence for his bomb attempt. - In another sad and ridiculous news, a Wichita Falls woman has been indicted for selling her daughter. Tina Valdez admitted to pawning off her teenage daughter for three thousand dollars. Okay, the whole concept of this is unfathomable to us, so after we ponder why a mother would even think to sell her daughter away, we wonder: why only three thousand dollars? We can't put our heads around it.
The 15-year-old daughter had been living in Mexico since last summer with the 35-year-old man who bought her. She has recently been put in foster care back in the States. [KXAN]
