Check Yourself Before You Wreck Yourself

  • Last week, the suspect of the attempted bombing of the Austin Women's Health Center is thought to have attempted suicide while in jail. Paul Ross Evans, who has a bail hearing today, was alone in his cell when he tore apart a disposable plastic razor and cut his arm with the metal razor. It was a bad enough wound to need stitches, and now Evans is on "medical watch" (which seems to be like a suicide watch). He is facing the possibility of a life sentence for his bomb attempt. • In another sad and ridiculous news, a Wichita Falls woman has been indicted for selling her daughter. Tina Valdez admitted to pawning off her teenage daughter for three thousand dollars. Okay, the whole concept of this is unfathomable to us, so after we ponder why a mother would even think to sell her daughter away, we wonder: why only three thousand dollars? We can't put our heads around it.

The 15-year-old daughter had been living in Mexico since last summer with the 35-year-old man who bought her. She has recently been put in foster care back in the States. [KXAN]

Buying and selling a 15 year old girl... sadly it's a tradition. That's the kind of antiquated crap that used to happen regularly in and before 1907.

Oh and I liked what "WTF" said about Evans, too.

Its a shame that people like this with obvious mental disorders of some type are not discovered while in the system as young people. Then things like this happen and their lives get even worse.

"This week, an Archer County grand jury indicted Valdez and Carlile on charges for buying and selling a child."

We have a law specifically forbidding buying and selling children? How often does this go on?

  • WTF

Is there anything that Mr. Evans can't fuck up? First, he can't make a proper bomb. Second, when he does make a bomb, he buys all the parts from one store using his own debit card (leading cops directly to him). Third, he can't off himself (once more, kids: it's down the tracks, not across the road).

Has this kid always been such a fuck-up, or is it just recently?
