An elderly woman plowed her car into a West Austin Randall's market yesterday, after becoming disoriented in the parking lot. Much like the man who crashed his Buick Le Sabre through a Santa Monica farmer's market several years ago, the woman reportedly experienced a bout of "pedal error," stepping on the accelerator instead of the break.
Four people inside the market were injured by flying debris, including the woman's son, who ended up pinned under one of the quarter kiddie rides previously stationed outside the store. According to News8Austin, no one was seriously hurt, though three victims were taken to the hospital.
The Randall's has since been reopened.

Does anyone else get a creepy mental image of the son? I mean why wasn't he driving the elderly mother around? I'm assuming its because he doesn't have a license as he is probably one of those middle aged guys that never flew away from the nest. Thus, never needing a license. "Mom, can you pick me up at the comic book store?" Furthermore, we really need to keep these weirdos as far away as possible from "quater kiddie rides" and the kids they are intended for. I can see it now...How To Catch a Predator - Austin Edition.
I'm a firm believer that anyone with a license who is over 70 years of age should have to take an actual road driving test once a year. I think that making people take them ever 5 years after hitting 50 would be a good idea too.
At several of the close-in Randalls, I've seen adults with mild mental retardation work the checkouts. Feel better, now, "TheMilkman"?
Actually M1EK I don't feel better. Thank you for making me feel like a total douche bag though. Something that you don't know about me is that I suffer from a disorder called monovisualization (aka - one track imagination) and it leans towards the negative side. So it's really not my fault that I imagined it that way...it's my chemical imbalance to blame.
PS-I still think a person with mild mental retardation would have been better off driving than an elderly lady who can't determine her left from right.
PSS-How bad are you going to feel if the man who was ran over ISN'T mentally challenged? Not only did he get razzed by me, but you called him a retard to boot. He'll probably hang himself. Let's hope he doesn't own a computer.

There are many, many cabanas getting run down in Miami. You don't hear about that in the news.
Milkman, maybe the son had Down Syndrome or something. Maybe he wasn't capable of driving.
Goddamn I'm an idiot.
Let's just outlaw old people. I'm sure the beautiful Californians would agree. Old people and ugly people. We'll move them all to Manor or something.
this is funny. i actually stopped by this grocery store last night to give them some business; the whole front of the store was boxed off in yellow tape...i figured it was just renovations.
Old people should not drive. Ever.
