Austinist Show Preview: Bliss Out 3 at Emo's

blissout3_may2007_emos.jpgSo it’s Wednesday and you have no plans for your hump day. Modest Mouse isn’t worth the drive to you while Kings of Leon is sold out. How about a combo of quality local events on Red River instead? Join the lovely lasses of Team Fabrication after work at the Mohawk for an installment of Guest Bartender Night, sponsored by The Onion. The ladies mix the beats proficiently and there’s no reason to believe they wouldn’t do justice to our beverages.

After a fair share of $1 Tecates, make your way to Emo’s for the latest edition of Bliss Out, a series dedicated to highlighting the best in psychedelic music in town. Created by Austinist staffer Miguel Hinojosa, past Bliss Outs have showcased acts such as For Those Who Know, Operator, and Yellow Fever. This week the spotlight falls on local shoegazers She, Sir. The band is celebrating the release of Who Can’t Say Yes. Beautiful melodies and haunting harmonies set to distant vocals and stirring guitars dominate the EP and should be make for a rousing live show. She, Sir will preceded by fellow noise-pop aficionados All In The Golden Afternoon and Ghost Of The Russian Empire. Headliners Horse+Donkey unfortunately had to cancel due to illness.
