Top Drawer Thrift/Project Transitions to Host Second Annual Top Drawer Couture Show Sunday

The kids at Top Drawer Thrift will host their second annual fashion show, Top Drawer Couture ’07 on May 6, 2007. Almost Impatient Productions and local fashion designers will create a runway show featuring both original works and items taken from the racks of the store. The Austin Chronicle’s Stephen MacMillan Moser will play host with the most again this year.

Organizers say the evening will feature drinks, hors d’oeuvres, a DJ, and live entertainment, as well as a tent sale with live music leading up to the event (noon – 7pm.) All proceeds will benefit a fantastic cause - the programs of Project Transitions, a nonprofit organization that provides housing and hospice services for individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS in Central Texas.

This year’s show has expanded to two categories: original designs as well as designs modified from off-the-rack items in the store. Sounds like the only thing missing will be the sassy chatter of "top fashion designer Michael Kors" and "Elle Magazine Fashion Director Nina Garcia."

“I’ve been shopping at Top Drawer since it opened, so this is an incredible chance to get other people as excited about the store as I am,” said April Skinner, the show’s Executive Producer and Creative Director of Almost Impatient Productions. “Top Drawer Couture is so much fun for the Almost Impatient team, plus we all have friends and loved ones who live with AIDS or have passed away. This show is something that we can do to get the Austin community involved in an issue we really care about.”

Stephen Moser is a batty old queen that needs to learn how to shut up. He doesn't like anything that's under 40 years old or comes from anyone under 40 years old. I know that I am no better but at least I don't have a page in a newspaper to spread my lunacy.

  • Ghost Rider

Stephen Moser is a wonderful man who is using his well-deserved clout to help a nonprofit organization. What are you doing? Besides spreading negative energy, that is.

  • pixiestix

Oh yeah. Working at the chronicle is sooooooo gravy-training!

I don't understand why people get so worked up about Stephen Moser. I think he serves his function more than adequately.

The trope of great talent going unrewarded is so common that it's a given.

Lack of talent can be circumvented by persistence, craftsmanship, and luck.

Luck means, among other things, access to favorable social contacts, good timing, or money.

Stephen Moser is a parody of himself. He's a gravy-training, no-talent hack and it is disgraceful that he has a job in writing/fashion when there are hundreds of people in this city alone with more talent in their pinkies than he has in his whole body.

    But that's just my opinion
