Here Comes the Spring: The Album Leaf Comes to Emo's

James LaValle is a classically trained multi-instrumentalist who has been circling the globe and projecting songs into the void as The Album Leaf since the late 90's, when his former project, Tristeza, disbanded. His songs are warm, earthy, and simultaneously intricate, ambient and modern. His albums are private moments of yearning, loss, hope, and simple pleasures translated for public intimacy.
Simply put ... LaValle is one of the most original and confident songwriters of his generation, and a master of modern composition. Meshing elements of post-rock, jazz, electronic experiments with the intensity and melancholy of bedroom solitude, his music should be listened to as if you are studying it.
Aside from his talent, his track record of touring buddies and sometime collaborators like The Locust, GoGoGo Airheart, The Black Heart Procession, and Sigur Rós is equally impressive if not astounding.
His fourth full-length, nto the Blue Again features Lavelle doing all of the instrumental duties. LaValle’s few collaborators on Into the Blue Again are Josh Eutis of Telefon Tel Aviv, who pushed buttons and manned the controls for programming and engineering. He pays Austin a visit at Emo's, Friday May 4th with The Lymbyc Systym (supporting their latest, Love Your Abuser) and Single Frame playing, performing songs from last year's Everything Wants to Be Used For What It Was Made For. the outside stage.
