Music News Notes: Peter & The Wolf, Tacks, the Boy Disaster, Lightning Bolt & Shearwater

Peter & The Wolf's Daytrotter Session was recorded here in Austin at Big Orange Studio during SXSW, which Hunter notes was marked by highlights like "Dirty Projectors, this one rad chick, and blacking out onstage at our showcase," and lowlights such as, "This one guy, that lame dude, and blacking out onstage at our showcase.” He recorded a handful of songs, including the previously unreleased "Where Summer Goes". No 16 member choir here, just some sort of goatskin instrument and lots of Tecate.

The video for Tacks, The Boy Disaster's song "Forgetmenot" has landed on the Internet. The video, which has made an impressive impression on the music blogging community already, was produced by our very own Super!Alright! production collective based in East Austin. The video is composed of parts produced by different members of the group, as so: Erik Horn (Piano), Chris Rose (Drive In), J.P. (Van and UFO), Gates Bradley (Elves) Garrett Johnston (Hummingbird), Erik Horn and Stephen Huff (Live Performance), and Rich Cornelisse (Abstract).

The EP, Oh, Beatrice, is available for purchase on the web in (so far) only one location.

Spot yourself or your little sister in Pitchfork's photos of last week's Lightning Bolt show at Emo's.

All charges have been dropped against Two Gallants drummer Tyson Vogel after a scuffle with Houston police at a show resulted in, well, chaos. Follow the link for an interview Vogel gave to Pitchfork recently about the Houston show that started it all, Two Gallants' plans post-legal nightmares and more.

Austin's Sounds Under Radio have a full-length coming out mid-summer sometime, but until then, you can catch them on the Spiderman 3 soundtrack with their song "Portrait of a Summer Thief". The song is featured on their MySpace page, and they'll be playing on April 28 at Junior's Bar (yes, that's Main St. in Round Rock) benefiting Gary Riley along with Ryan Vaughn and Language Room.

Shearwater is preparing to embark on a long, hot summer tour, beginning in June and going on through the first week or so of July. If you missed their last show at Emo's with Xiu Xiu, we recommend showing up for the revenge of Emo's performance on June 16 with the Great Lake Swimmers and Minus Story. Full list of tour dates below the cut!

Lastly, though you probably already saw staff photographer Eric Uhlir's photos from Okkervil River's performance at Hogg Auditorium last weekend, you haven't seen photos from rehearsal. Follow the leap for a couple of behind the scenes shots courtesy of Kevin Schneider and Okkervil River.
