Dubya Awarded Honorary Medal for Exemplary Command of "I Am Rubber, You Are Glue"

What do you give the dear leader who's already got it all?

If you're a decorated war vet with medals to spare, one option is (evidently) a Purple Heart.

At least that's what Round Rock resident Bill Thomas decided to do when he and his wife met with President Bush yesterday at the Oval Office, where they presented our commander in chief with one of the three Purple Hearts that Thomas received in Vietnam. To his credit, the president noted that "he didn't feel like he had earned it."

The Purple Heart is generally awarded "in the name of the President" to military personnel who have been wounded or killed in battle.

From the Cove Herald:

Thomas said he and his wife came up with the unprecedented idea to present the president with the Purple Heart over breakfast one morning a few months ago as they discussed the verbal attacks, both foreign and domestic, the commander in chief has withstood during his time in office.

"We feel like emotional wounds and scars are as hard to carry as physical wounds," Thomas said.

We're not even sure where to begin with this, but Crooks and Liars offers some lucid commentary.

And, in unrelated news, various impeachment rallies will take place across the country this Saturday, ranging from guerilla slide shows projected against downtown office buildings and skywriting to "human murals."

GOD BLESS AMERICA
vomit

Naomi Wolf's article is truly one of the scariest I've read in a while.

Comparing Bush to Pinochet, Hitler or Stalin shows not only ignorance, but the self centered nature of modern day westerners.
It really does blow my mind how westerners, and Americans especially, can equate their experiences with those that have truly suffered under oppressive regimes.

When did we start measuring fascism by degree and extent of suffering?

When it started carrying the connotations that it does.

There are no connotations.

It's an ideology. The core ideals are the same whether the participants wear swastikas or little American flag lapel pins.

Really?

If having shitty "core ideals" was the problem, we'd have to round up every Che poster havin' ignorant college pseudo-hippie and put them against the wall.

Bush (41 & 43), Pelosi, Clinton (H.R. & W.J.), etc. aren't that much different from Hitler, Pinochet, Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao, etc. in their "core ideals". It's the execution that makes the latter list a bunch of shitty human beings, not the little flag pin on their lapels.

I Love you girls
