This Weekend at the Box

ButtercupThe Fuse Box Festival, that is. We've already mentioned a play or two we think you'd like, but there's even more happening at this funky little fest that warrants your attention. Among many things, Fuse Box is a multimedia event, and to that end there's music this weekend. Quite a lot of music. Check the following shows...and note that all of 'em are one performance only.

  • San Antonio pop band Buttercup plays the Blue tonight at 10pm. With "quirky and catchy...rock anthems," this band looks like a lot of fun. Plus you never know when those unpredictable hooligans at Refraction Arts might up and throw an afterparty. (This is 100% conjecture on our part, so don't be miffed if no such event surfaces.)
  • Take a tabletop guitar played by Keith Rowe, and mix it with Rick Reed's EMS Synthesizer and sine wave generators, and what do you get? Some pretty mindbending sound. Presented by the Austin Museum of Digital Art. Check our preview. The show happens tomorrow night at 8pm at Ceremony Hall (4100 Red River).
  • In another late-evening show at the Blue, Foot Patrol takes the stage tomorrow night at 11pm. Huh...this description captivates things in a way we never could: "The sound is reminiscent of 80's Minneapolis funk, loaded with keyboard sounds and drum machines. It features the blatant abuse of the pun and funky beats that will get your ass shaking til your socks fly off." Sexy!

There are several other things going down this weekend, including the much-depicted and recommended dance performance, Room, so we recommend you peruse the listings in all their glory.
