Kids, I hope you're not too irritated with me but, once again, I will not be working the The Laurie Show late shift tonight on KUT 90.5. No sir. Or ma'am. I'm actually going to have live music adventures of my own this evening, leaving my program in the capable hands of the super duper Chris Hillen. Go get 'em, Chris.

Now listen up: I want to update you on postponed show. Remember last week I mentioned Ashera-Blare-A IV at Club DeVille on Red River? It was the benefit show put together for the Ashera Project, which provides comprehensive teen pregnancy prevention and youth development programs for high school students. It's been rescheduled for tonight, so make plans to check out the line-up featuring All In the Golden Afternoon, The Heirs, The Minderchucks, and The Otters. You can check out the Ashera Project website for information about the program and to make a donation.

Another gig to make the rounds at is at Hole In the Wall, where Ume headlines tonight. Red Leaves, Woozy Helmet, and Damage Pants. Brooks Alan Brannon starts the evening out at 8 p.m. You can also head to South Congress and slip in to Trophy's to catch Transmography, Atarimatt, Hotel Hotel, and The Boxing Lesson.

Saturday's another busy night. Do you like beer? Sure, we all do. Mostly. So I'd like to remind you about Draft Sessions #3, brought to you by the fine party peeps of Independence Brewery, Party Ends, Groove Labs, and Raw Word Records. Head on out to the Independence Brewery location, 3913 Todd Lane, #607, and catch performances by The Lovely Sparrows and AM Syndicate. It's a mere $5 donation. DJ Markus With A K keeps the tunes spinning in between sets.

Also on Saturday, a man of few words (at least during interviews), Bill Callahan, will grace the stage of The Mohawk on Red River for what should be a fantastic performance. Opening the show: The Weird Weeds, Moth Fight, and Horse + Donkey.

If you've never seen soul superstar Black Joe Lewis, you're in for a real treat Saturday night. He's performing at the Parish on 6th St. Starting out the evening will be The Bourbon Legends and The Summer Wardrobe.

Mmm. Bourbon.

Sorry, it's been a long week.

It doesn't quit on Sunday, kids. Head on over to Stubb's indoor venue for some great music by Shapes Have Fangs, the Rockland Eagles, and The Lemurs.

Monday is another treat I look forward to. What band performance could be more appropriate for a showing of The Magic Christian (1969) at Alamo Drafthouse Downtown than one from Ringo Deathstarr? It's perfect, I tell you! See for yourself, and enjoy some biting satire still relevant to this day. Helloooo? Peter Sellers fan here. Check it out.

All right now. Remember to give Chris your support this evening, and I'll return next week. Write this down: 11 p.m. to 3 in the frickin' morning, Fridays, on KUT 90.5. Until next time, fiends. And I invite you to check out the latest installment of Before the Break, featuring Rachel Goldstar.

Using the parting words of our pal RoboCop, thank you for your cooperation.
