Bella Blue Closing Sale This Weekend

Bella%20Blue%20House.jpgBella Blue is closing its doors Sunday after two years of being in business. The last minute move was a reaction to the raising of their rent. However, Christy Parker (manager of Bella Blue) says this isn’t the end of the business. She and the other vendors are selling their wares online until they find another location.

“The concept was to support local artists and showcase their work,” Christy says. Her adorable boutique started in another old house San Marcos back in 2001, under the name Moonshine. After five years of selling wearable and decorative crafts, and hosting live music performances, Christy moved to Austin.

“I felt like I had reached my potential in San Marcos,” Christy says. “I think Austin is where it’s at.”

Now Christy wants to focus more on her design - a line of beaded and reconstructed vintage jewelry - and selling it at other boutiques.

This weekend everything except for the art will be reduced to at least 50 percent off, Christy says.

Bella Blue Closing Sale
Sunday, April 22nd
2213 South 1st Street
11am-6pm

This is what Bella Blue’s Myspace page says:

If you didn't know, Bella Blue consists of 3 artists (Stephanie, Christy & Kaite) who wanted a venue to showcase their own work as well as offer a place for other people in the creative community to display their wares. A place we could mold into anything we wanted; and we did, hosting artist's markets and live music shows. It has been a fun ride and we have made some great connections with people. That is why it is hard to tell you & it may come as a shock that we announce our decision to part ways (very amicably) to pursue different creative avenues. The bittersweet of it means Bella Blue (the store) will be closing its doors as of Sunday the 22nd. It's been an incredible two years and we are sad to let the space go; but rest assured, we really want you to know that we are still going to be accessible…just in alternative capacities.

Happiness (2 doors down from Bella Blue) will be moving into our space here at 2213 S. 1st. Stephanie will continue to work out of her trailer studio in the backyard; and of course it will be beautiful because Happiness has an amazing way with plants. They will be keeping some of her botanical paintings and Mother Trucker Handbags. Kiki Nass will have a permanent wall for her as well; watch out for the 2nd annual trailer show there in June.

Christy is busy launching her design and jewelry business, Carolina Bleu. You can shop for her art and jewelry online. Hurry before they are all snatched up!

Kaite will be operating online from her Etsy store and her website. You will still be able to find her bath & body products, wrap skirts, jewelry and vintage goods as you shop in your pjs. So, you see, we are definitely NOT "going out of biz" we are just shuffling around a bit.

We are having a big last day blowout to help us on our way, give you an opportunity to get your shop on and chat with us before we bid adieu. Please come visit us!
