City of Austin Announces Fifth Annual Business Start-up Conference With Restaurant Focus

With all the recent responses, we get it - you're passionate about food. Austin is no longer a one chicken fried steak town with a burgeoning fine dining scene and three "best new chef" honorees by Food and Wine Magazine.
In that spirit, the city has announced plans for its fifth annual industry-specific start-up conference: Ingredients for Success: Opening a Restaurant. The one-day forum, sponsored by the City of Austin Small Business Development Program (SBDP), will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 13 at the Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Springs Road.
At the conference, aspiring restaurateurs will hear “success stories” and lessons learned from the owners of some of Austin’s most successful restaurants, including Nilda de la Llata of the popular South Congress eatery El Sol y La Luna, southern comfort food expert Hoover Alexander of Hoover's Cooking and Ken Schiller, co-owner of Rudy’s Country Store & Bar-B-Q restaurant chain. Big playaz Rob Balon and Johnny Carino will also be on hand to throw in some inspiration.
