Austinist Show Preview: Couture de Amore at the Parish

Peanut Butter and Jelly, Guns N’ Roses, Matt & Kim, plenty of items in life go perfectly together. Fashion and Music? Sure, why not? Mariessa, a young and up-and-coming fashion designer in the city is putting together a mouth watering extravaganza at the Parish to showcase the magic of both. Innovative designs will be complemented by the wonderful sounds of Golden Bear, fresh on the heels of their second release, To The Farthest Star. The band’s optimistic pop can energize the gloomiest amongst us all, and they will precede headliners Clap! Clap!, who electrified Austinist’s Local Music Is Sexy 3 shindig earlier this month. Haunting Oboe Music and the Valentines get things going earlier in the night.

Sandwiched between the music, Mariessa, Jess b., and Knoxy’s concoctions will be on display on a wide variety of local models, with make-up provided by Erin Mayo. Jewelry by Amy Cline, and photography by Jonathan Allen and Brandon Barron add to night’s eclectic mix. Furthermore, Traffic Jam Productions is sending a video crew in the safe hands of Topher Barnett to chronicle the goings-ons . Could Should be a night to behold for a new generation of Austin art.
