In case you haven't gotten enough New Urbanism lately, Congress for the New Urbanism will be holding next year's CNU XVI right here in Austin.
If you can't wait that long to hear about New Urbanism's applicability to Central Texas, Envision Central Texas is hosting the SmartCode Workshop from March 29- 31, 2007.
Is $565 a little too much scratch to hear about urban planning? Don't want to go all out on the whole conference thing? Andrés Duany (President and CEO of the Congress for the New Urbanism) and John Norquist (Principal of Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company) will be in town on Thursday to discuss new urbanism and CNU XVI on March 29 from 5 - 7:30 p.m.

Nothing cooler than having the congress for urbanism when the condo occupany rate will be about 4%. This should be good.
Oh yeah - and no news on Pok-e-Jo's being torn down for more condo goodness? I here Guero's and El Arroyo are next.
This is what is going up where Pok-e-Jo's is now:

The website indicates that Pok-e-Jo's will be a tenant, but they certainly aren't happy about the development, so I'm not sure what the deal is. Maybe they are just making the best of the situation. Sad to see the old tenants go (loved the consignment store in the quonset hut - they are headed to South Lamar), but this looks like a decent project, IMO. I don't have much more info. Maybe I will go take a demolition pic and do a post.
I haven't heard anything about Guero's or El Arroyo. If you have real info, please pass it along.
