Open Call for Broadway Hopefuls

Broadway casting group Telsey + Company (Wicked, Hairspray, Rent is looking for hot new male talent--aren't we all?--for an upcoming production entitled Cry Baby.

Based on John Water's campy 1990 flick starring Johnny Depp, Ricki Lake, Iggy Pop, and Stephen Baldwin, Cry Baby told the classic tale of a gentle street thug who falls in love with a totally square chick, but then some bad stuff happens along the way that we can't remember.

Telsey+Co is looking to cast the lead actor role, who's described as "a super charismatic, striking rocker and gang leader, though essentially an honorable man with a soulful yearning to clear his family name. Has the ability to shed one tear and have the girls swooning. Needs star power and comic chops. Strong pop/rock singer. Elvis/Jack Black/Johnny Depp types."

Luckily for you star-powered, comic-chopped Austinites, they're coming to town next week to host an open casting call at the City Theatre. Stop by next Saturday, March 17th, between 3-7pm, and be prepared to wow 'em with your best Ponyboy impersonation, you sexy rockers.
