The Domain Crossing Shopping Center is opening tomorrow. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know the mega pseudo-mall (disguised as a shopaholic’s theme park) is the new home to Neiman Marcus, Macy’s, Tiffany and Co. – and dozens of stores already in Houston and Dallas.
We could’ve waited till tomorrow to sniff out an impossible parking spot, and then dart through a gaggle of “You-wanna-sign-up-for-a-Macy’s-card?” ladies, but the people at Martin + Osa invited us to check out their new digs this morning.
Martin + Osa is a new brand line inspired by the adventurous lifestyle of Martin and Osa Johnson, a Kansas couple who explored Africa and the South Pacific in the ’20s. The store is basically a better quality American Eagle Outfitters (its parent company) for 30-somethings, selling cotton pleated skirts, chinos cut like sweatpants, cashmere tops. It also sells Adidas sneakers, copies of McSweeney’s Quarterly Concern and Holga cameras!
If you are adventurous enough to brave the traffic, check out the store on Saturday when singer/songwriter Julia Othmer performs at 2 and 5 p.m. Ten percent of the sales that day will be donated to VH1 Save the Music Foundation.
