Roll Out the Red Carpet...It's Awards Weekend!

We're just about to head to the grocery store to stock up on champagne and salty snacks for this weekend's award show marathon, but for those of you who like to venture beyond the comfort of your living rooms for these kinds of events, here are some party options:

Tomorrow, you can join the Austin Film Society at Ringer's Sports Lounge where they'll be hosting a viewing party for the Independent's Spirit Awards. Two Austinites are nominated for awards this year (Mike Akel for his feature Chalk and Anish Savjani for producing the feature Old Joy) and the AFS will be buying the first round of drinks! Should be a very good time.

On Sunday, head out to the Alamo Downtown, Alamo South Lamar or Alamo Village where they'll be holding their 9th Annual Red Carpet Bash, including contests, champagne, raffles and more. The parties will be hosted by various awesome folks including Owen and Jodi Egerton, John Erler, Buzz Moran & Shannon McCormick, and the South Lamar party will feature an Oscar-themed menu by chef John Bullington.

If you're feeling charitable Lifeworks Austin will be holding their 13th Annual Academy Awards Gala at the Austin Hilton. Sponsorships start at $3000, and all proceeds (we think) will benefit Lifeworks, a non-profit network of services for youth and families in Austin.
