Dishola, Foodhawk Point Austinites at Restaurants, Dishes

foodlove.jpg

We're nerding out over two Austin-based websites that help answer the age-old question, "What's for dinner?"

The next time you're confronted with a culinary decision, try one of the following solutions:

dishola_logo.png We stumbled upon Dishola, the brainchild of Paula Disbrowe and Lindsey Simon at their launch party at the Red House Lounge. Dishola is amateur food porn at its absolute best with zealous food nerds pimping out their favorite dishes for the perusal of the hungry and the bored. This website is to true food lovers as a Playstation is to 15-year-old boys.

food_hawk_small.gif Still stumped? Dr. Judy Hamlin and Karen Dickey have broken restaurant hunting in Austin down to a science with their searchable database of restaurants, areas and cuisines - Foodhawk. The next time you don't know where to find, say, Thai food in northeast Austin, give it a glance.

Note: the "Food is Love" photograph used here is from a restaurant in Cambridge, MA, not Austin.

A playstation to 15 year old boys?

Why not just say buggy-whip?

buggy whip - a horsewhip once used by a driver of a buggy; "since buggies have been replaced by cars the buggy whip has become a symbol for anything that is hopelessly outmoded"

Ohhhhh, I get it. Fine, then. Tinkertoys.
