Austin's New (And Revamped) Boutiques: Part 2

Boutiques are opening, changing or moving everywhere you look around Austin. We found these when we hit the streets this week:

Guys into New York’s streetwear look will love Complete Clothing. The men’s boutique carries limited-edition and independent lines geared to people in their 20s, says owner Zaul Zamora. Look around and you’ll find Crayola-colored hoodies, patent-leather sneakers (easier to clean but crease, Zamora says) and graphics-heavy T-shirts from Los Angeles, New York, London and Tokyo. (106 East 8th Street; 11-7 Monday-Saturday) [info]

Violet%20Rouge.jpg Make-up addicts, beware! Violet Rouge carries six cosmetics lines you can’t find in anywhere else in Austin, claims owner Samantha Packman. Lines include Face Atelier from Canada (known for their silicone based foundations) to petite-packaged Pixi cosmetics from the United Kingdom. The boutique also has bath and body products galore – including oxygen based Task, a Swiss line for men, and all-organic Nature Girl. Violet Rouge’s grand opening is from 6-9 p.m. tonight. (2110 South Lamar; noon-6 Monday-Wednesday, 11-7 Thursday-Saturday, noon- 5 Sunday) [info]

We’ve got two words for b.Chic: designer purses. Get “pre-loved” or “gently-used” Louis Vuitton and Prada bags from $275 - $1,575. Otherwise, this place has great gifts, such as silk Kimono robes and decadent Niven Morgan toiletries, for that rich aunt of yours. (2805 Bee Caves Road, Suite 416; 10-6 Monday-Friday, 10-5 Saturday) [info]

fashion%20vault.jpg Clothing at Fashion Vault makes a statement, from patchwork Dolce and Gabbana tops to zip-up high-tops made by Triple 5 Soul. This tiny boutique (next to Pangea Trading Company) also houses paintings and photographs created by local artists, and hosts live music events. (2712 A Guadalupe, 11-7 Monday-Sunday) [info]

Formerly Populuxe, Kismet is now owned by a mother-daughter duo. The boutique still caters to Populuxe’s clientele, but now it carries a little bit of everything: vintage hats, cowboy boots, Royal Elastics sneakers, tailored Suzabelle suits, crafty jewelry made by local artists and children’s clothing. (4410 Medical Parkway, 11-6 Tuesday-Saturday)

Amy Kennedy and Nell McKnight bought Pangea Trading Company from its original owner is January, put in hardwood floors and painted the walls with a fresh coat. Although the store still carries its trademark Asian imported gifts, the boutique now has more hip and contemporary clothing. (2712 B Guadalupe; 11-8 Monday-Thursday, 11-9 Friday-Saturday, 1-5 Sunday) [info]

Finch.jpg Finch is quite possibly the cutest boutique in town selling housewares and kitchen accessories. Everything has a feminine Anthropologie-esque touch but with an avian influence. Delicate glassware, cookbooks and nature-inspired lamps sit perched together in the middle of the blue painted room, creating an elegant forest. (417 West 2nd Street; 10-7 Monday-Saturday, noon-5 Sunday) [info]

Soigne Boutique is stylish in a lets-do-drinks-in-Dallas way. Standouts here include washable tops and dresses by Kenzie Girl, and cute Voom blazers adorned with retro-inspired wooden owls. FYI: Soigne is having a champagne tasting party on March 15th from 6-8 p.m. (4800 Burnet Road, Suite 410; 10-6 Monday-Saturday) [info]

Also, Peyton’s Place – a women’s boutique selling merchandise under $120 – will join the 2nd Street District in two weeks. (215 Lavaca Street) [info]

Oh yay, more shit I can't afford that people who have contributed nothing to local culture can buy to feel superior. And why would I spend more money on my rich Aunt? Shouldn't I splurge on those I care about who *can't* already afford it?
