Austinist Show Preview: High Plains Sigh Presents: Freaky Sounds & Sights From Around The Planet @ the Peacock

The Peacock on the east side has fast become a regular venue for eclectic shows throughout the work week. Having celebrated its one year anniversary last September, the bar’s interior decorations and (strong) cocktails continue to be a source of constant pleasure to the locals.
This Thursday, Amy Annelle’s record label, High Plains Sigh and her project, The Places host another such night of assorted music. The Places’ soft sprawl of atmospheric folk will be sandwiched between the diverse compositions of Oliver Rajamani and the late night heroics of Miss Angeliska and her estoric Ocean Harp. Rajamani, a constant performer at various venues around town, blends world music with, well, other world music, to arrive at an intoxicating array of sounds. Add to this DJs spinning
unconventional/unintentional psychedelia, and strange and excellent old folk music from around the world; with tangential voyages into Finnish death metal and the American underground; and large-scale projections by Austin visual artists.
And where else could you be on Thursday evening?
