KLRU's Spark Series Hosts Luminaries Hinojosa and Suarez

Those who grew up with NPR as auxiliary parent will doubtless recognize the names Maria Hinojosa and Ray Suarez, the honored guests at Spark: KLRU's Engaging Speaker Series this Wednesday. (So, do their pictures match your mental conception of how they'd look? 'Cuz the first time we saw a pic of Terry Gross, we flipped out.)
Hinojosa, the anchor of NPR's Latino USA, is also most recently the author of a memoir of Mexican-American motherhood: Raising Raul: An Adventure Raising Myself and My Son. In 1995, Hinojosa published her first book, Crews: Gang Members Talk with Maria Hinojosa. When she's not being an NPR anchor, she's a senior correspondent for PBS' NOW.
Suarez used to host NPR's Talk of the Nation, but now works as a senior correspondent for the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer. (Ah, the PBS/NPR pipeline. Glad to see it running so smoothly.) His books include The Old Neighborhood: What We Lost in the Great Suburban Migration and The Holy Vote.
Hinojosa and Suarez, as you can tell by their bonafides, are two of the most experienced Hispanic journalists in the country. Don't miss the chance to see them talk about immigration, family, and the nation's future (no small agenda, that).
Even better: enter our ticket contest and see them for free.
