We Texans and our potentially-probably unhealthy, unyielding obsession with high school football... mind boggling. In PD's defense: some people LOVE khakis, so why get all up in arms over that? And if you DON'T appreciate a fine pair of pleat-less deck-pants, then please note that he did use the khaki comment in conjunction with "athletic badasses". Smacks of "balance" to me. Even outside of that, it's opinion, not an official indictment of any kind. Looks like everyone played some fine football that day, and lots of home runs were aced down the lanes. Bump, Set, Strike! ALRIGHT!!!

I enjoy the austinist, and this is just crap writing to the masses to demean Westlake. Patrick you should write something of substance instead of ignorant envy. The Championship game was great...and the young men who played in it should be applauded. In now way was Westlake blown out or got their butts kicked. They played a great game but were not the best team that day. Westlake really surprised the state with their performance during the State Championship game. They were written off by many to be blown out in this game and had a great showing. Many considered the game over before it was even played. Westlake played a hard fought game and young men should be congratulated for their achievements rather than running down a community because of jealousy. While some are more fortunate in the community with income, this does not buy them opportunity to be in the State Championship game. Hard work, discipline, and a bunch of good kids. The dockers comment is just childish envy and I can see that the A.I.S.D school system has taught you well :( I hope that you use your time at University of Texas to become educated. I do feel deeply troubled that your major is education and you may have the chance to educate with your poor opinions.

Joe is the brother of John (the football commentator) and Steve (the shoe magnate). During the Thanksgiving of 1998, he was caught sexing up the Turducken while sniffing a pair of Steve's girlfriend's shoes. Joe was subsequently thrown from the Outback Steakhouse Cruiser -the tour bus that John travels/lives in- while it was moving! The brothers have barely spoken since. He was working at an Ace Hardware in Oceola, Mississippi, a sinecure due to John's tenure as a spokesman for the hardware chain, and fired when it was discovered that he was huffing gold spray paint on his breaks. Now he roams the south and, when high on gasoline, he sneaks ipecac into the water supply of whatever high school football team is closest. This, he believes, while in his petroleum induced haze, is proper vengeance for his brothers' treatment of him. Joe Madden is a misguided soul and is commonly referred to as "the shame of the Madden family."

Who is Joe Madden? Is this some combination of Joe Theismann and John Madden? Formed together to make a crappy announcer? Plus anyone who uses Methinks is a doofus, but than again with sports commentary as bad as this, its appropriate.
