Local Magazine Party Previews: Misprint at Flamingo Cantina & Whoopsy at Red 7
The city of Austin is a bastion of local print and internet media publications of many varieties, and we at the Austinist are always excited to get our from under our cave desks, rub the sleep from our eyes, and actually read something that has been printed on a real live piece of paper once in a while. Or just download the .PDF.
Regardless of how we come to read our favorite local print publications, the parties are always the best reward for doing all that reading. We loved the last Misprint Magazine bash, and we are equally excited for the Flamingo Cantina party. Music from the Sons of Hercules, Amplified Heat, the Oklahomos, and Human Being Lawnmower will provide the inspiration tonight for this bimonthly magazine devoted to music, fashion, art, and general cultural insight.
Equally adept at combining humor, satire, and musical mayhem, Whoopsy Magazine takes over Red 7 tonight for a two-stage rock n’ metal shindig. Beer specials, and “SEXY TIME” from the Jigglewatts Burlesque troupe is promised, while music from a host of local, and out of town talent, like New Disaster, Pack Of Wolves, Idle Kids, Splithoof, and the Arab League promises an evening of artistic and literary bliss. Both magazines are free and available at most bars. And local.
