Good-bye to Texas University. So long to the Orange and White. Good luck to the dear old Texas Aggies, They are the boys who show the real old fight. The eyes of Texas are upon you. That is the song they sing so well, So, good-bye to Texas University, We're goin' to beat you all to -- Chig-gar-roo-gar-rem! Chig-gar-roo gar-rem! Rough! Tough! Real stuff! Texas A&M! Saw Varsity's Horns Off! Saw Varsity's Horns Off! Saw Varsity's Horns Off! Short! Varsity's Horns are Sawed Off! Varsity's Horns are Sawed Off! Varsity's Horns are Sawed Off! Short! - The Aggie War Hymn

On December 4, 2006 at The U.S. District Court in Austin, The UT System Board of Regents filed a lawsuit against Fadi Kalaouze and Kalcorp Enterprises Inc., who adapted the "Saw 'Em Off" slogan to merchandise at his College Station department store. The Regents believe Kalaouze has been "unjustly enriched at UT's expense by [his] unauthorized use of the defendant's marks." UT is seeking an unspecified amount in damages, Kalaouze must destroy current merchandise and refrain from using the slogan on any future merchandise.

Kalaouze's attorney, Allan Van Fleet, responded by saying the logo is a parody protected by the First Amendment, that the two logos are entirely different and that UT does allow other instances where slight differences in the logo can be used on merchandise all across Texas. In his written response to the lawsuit, Van Fleet added that this is a "blatant attempt to secure home-team advantage" and "a display of poor sportsmanship."

Coincidentally, the lawsuit did come about a week after UT lost to A&M, 7-12.

Not surprising, Kalaouze, a resident in College Station, says "most people he has spoken with are supportive" and that it is just part of the century-long rivalry. "We have a good tradition here," Kalaouze said, "It would be sad to lose another one." ...Since most of their traditions rely on us, we'll try to think of some more so they can hurry up and replace this one.

For now, Aggie or Longhorn, we say drive down to College Station and buy 'em now, sell 'em later.

Who cares. The only others who get it or think it's cool are other redneck idiots that drive maroon cars and hang out at the DC. They'll probably sell a whole 150 of them, woohoo.

You sir, have not seen the make up of the aggie faithful in awhile. I wonder if they're considering a countersuit aimed at the shirts with Revielle's legs being sawed off?

You very appropriately summed up the whole issue with one sentence; paragraph 4.

"Coincidentally, the lawsuit did come about a week after UT lost to A&M, 7-12."

"Those people" are known across the nation as "The Whiney-orange", among many other drug related nicknames...

First people sue McDonald's because their coffee is hot, and now people want to sue because their precious little football gets beat and they can't take the humiliation anymore. I think it is all an act of ignorance. I think if we continue to sue for stupid things like this what is the point in having a constitution in the first place.
