Austinist Show Preview: Ron Sexsmith at Stubb's

sexsmith.jpg Ron Sexmith has been making music since the age of 14, when he formed his first band. The Canadian singer-songwriter arrives in town Tuesday night in support of his tenth release, Time Being, out now on IronWorks Music. Sexsmith has returned to producer Mitchell Froom, reviving a partnership that launched his major-label career in the mid-90’s. Time Being continues in the artist’s tradition of combining folk nuances with pretty pop and introspective lyrics. Attendees at Stubb’s can rely on Sexsmith’s trademarks: soft sprawls of catchy hooks, infectious melodies, and heart-warming sincerity.

Floridian Kim Taylor starts off the evening with her own brand of sparkling pop as found on last year’s I Feel Like A Fading Light.
