Music Mondays Presents Cold Hearts: Icelandic Music Shorts

We don't know about you, but by the third day of our recent ice storm, we had a serious case of cabin fever. A few more days in chilly isolation, and we might have completely lost our marbles. So we can only imagine what it's like to live in the land of ice; a frosty, desolate country where the mercury rarely pushes past 60 degrees and where the largest city has less than a third the population of Austin.

But the Nordic people are made of tougher stuff - rather than let their geographic bad luck get the best of them, they use it to drive their unique creative instincts, resulting in some of the most confident, distinctive and thoroughly unusual art being produced today.

Tonight Alamo Music Mondays presents Cold Hearts, a compilation of contemporary Icelandic music videos and short films featuring artists like Múm, Maus, Gus Gus and Sigur Rós.

The centerpiece of the compilation is the short film Who's Bardi?, a fake documentary about a real Icelandic artist named Bardi Johannsson who's made a name for himself fronting the frosty pop outfits Bang Gang and Lady & Bird. Besides being darkly funny, Who's Bardi? also offers a stunning glimpse of the gorgeous Icelandic landscape that inspires Johannsson's equally gorgeous music.
