Hot Real Estate Listings - Back to '04

We tried to branch out, but we can't help it - we love the '04. That's where all the cool shit is. Sure, it has plenty of overpriced, weird, crazy-ass listings (nice giant chess set, DORKS!), but there are still some nice houses at reasonable prices. Plus, with the '02 resisting "gentrification," '01 and '03 super-expensive, and '05 full of spies and longhorns fighting with hundred-year-old statues, '04 is the only place for us to go. Other zip codes? We can only count to five. Our other hand is busy. Here are this weeks listings:
1811 Hether Street - $250,000. 728 square feet. Built in 1950. This one of a pair of new, very similar listings near each other on this street. The other already has a pending offer. The house is small, but it appears to be in good shape and the yard looks great. Both houses appear to have wood floors. The other one has a more open backyard, while this one has more of an overgrown, secret-garden look. |
2509 Durwood Street - $222,900. 936 square feet. Built in 1953. The owner appears to be overly enamored of that car port, but this still looks like a cool house. Across the street from Gillis Park. Appears to be in decent shape, but it could use some paint and you'll probably want to rip that carpet out. Lots of small rooms, which is cool. Big open rooms are so 2006. Great yard. What's in the shed? The possibilities are limitless. Open house this Sunday from 3-5. |
1103 Prospect Avenue - $279,000. 1,535 square feet. Built in 2007. OK, one house from '02. The whole '04 theme was mainly to irritate the haters anyway. Plus, this house is pretty awesome, if by "awesome" we mean "green," and by "green" we mean "painted green," which we do. All houses with a large cantilevered sections hanging out over space are super. The house is on a cute triangle lot where Prospect Avenue and 11th Street both do a bendy thing. Hotness! We would probably add some red and white stripes to the exterior, but other than that, this one looks like a winner. |
One additional note - a friend of Austinist is renting out his loft at Belair - $1195/mo for a 1 bedroom, 1.5 bath. 950 sqft over 3 floors with a washer/dryer. Check www.thebelair.com for more details or email leasemybelairloft[@]gmail.com.

the taxes on that lime green house can't possibly be right, unless they're only counting land value for '06.
Was "Durwood Street" originally supposed to be called Darren Street?
I drove by the green house, it is funky and the neighborhood has a lot of roosters. I suppose its charming, but both the green and the roosters would get tiresome quickly.
Really, if people are interested in decent, liveable homes that don't cost a fortune, look no further than the 78722 zip code, east of I-35 between Airport and Manor.
I think there needs to be more love for the '45 zip code, close yet affordable.
If you are looking for cool and affordable in the '45, check out www.skybridgeaustin.com.
Wow - that advice is about a year and 4 months too late for them; or is this just a poor attempt at spam?
But, thanks for bringing it back up. Shilli, where are our Hot Real Estate Listings?!
They still got 2 bedroom apartments for lease in the North Lamar and Rundburg area. Limited time only. Apply within.
I hate to have to be the one to tell you this, austinurbandigs, but $129,000 for a one bedroom condo on the far side of Congress is not affordable unless upi were born shitting gold.
