Friday Night Comedy at ColdTowne
The city’s number one comedy theater has a Friday night lineup that is guaranteed to get your ass laughing, regardless of your particular comedic styling predilections. The full night of comedy at ColdTowne kicks off with some hot woman on woman comedy action (interested now, you sick bastards?). In the One-Woman Showdown, local improvisers Kaci Beeler and Jill Morris interpret their favorite movies as one-woman shows. Beeler will be adapting every geeky pedophile’s favorite Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone, while Morris uses her brilliant comedic mind to reimagine uncle Frank Capra’s It’s a Wonderful Life. Think these two movies have nothing in common? Don’t be daft. You’ll see.
Following the One Woman Showdown is the award-winning production Lovey & Lovey, starring the inimitable Tami Nelson and the hilarious Michael Jastroch, both of ColdTowne. The duo spoof a high-brow couple’s nostalgic romp through a series of disjointed and absurd memories. Think Mr. & Mrs. Howell from Gilligan’s Island. On acid (and scotch).
At 10pm, it's the stand-ups time to shine, as 15 comics take the stage as part of Punchline. Any(and every)one is welcome to sign up to perform in this rapid-fire hour of laughs, just, please, try not to suck. But if you do, it’s cool, you only gotta bomb for 4 minutes. With the amount of love flowing through ColdTowne theater, it’s a great venue to take your first stab at stand-up. So whether you’ve got a finally-honed act, or if you just wanna give it a shot for the first time, Punchline provides the perfect forum for yuck monkeys of every level.
