I’ve Got Two Tickets to Paradise

"What people don't realize is that the so-called Seattle grunge scene grew out of several close-knit gourmet supper clubs - we would only pick up guitars to pass the time while our dishes were simmering, baking, boiling, etc." - Kurt Cobain

For those Austinites looking to escape a (warm) hip town full of rock and roll, coffee shops, tech geeks and weed for another (rainy) hip town full of rock and roll, coffee shops, tech geeks and weed, your ship plane just came in.

American Airlines announced today that they will offer direct service from Austin to Seattle beginning in April of next year, with one round trip available on the route each day.

"The Austin and Seattle markets are important to American and its customers," said Henry Joyner, American's Senior Vice President of Planning. "We've done very well with our other flights between Austin and the West Coast -- we expect this one to be a success as well."

The schedule for the direct flight to the Emerald City is as follows:
Flight 1893 Departs Austin: 8:15 a.m.; Arrives in Seattle: 10:25 a.m.
Flight 1960 Departs Seattle: 3:35 p.m.; Arrives in Austin: 9:35 p.m.

That's a nice addition to nonstop travel spots. The only 'cool' places in the US that are missing now are Portland, Philly and Miami (in my opinion).

  • I can't get enough of random Eddie Money song references.
