2006: It Was a Happy Little Year

Or so the people at HappyNews.com like to think. Today they released their Top Ten Happy Stories of 2006. Some of these items are genuine "news" items, such as NBA player Dikembe Mutombo donating millions of dollars to start a hospital in his native Congo, Warren Buffett's ginormous donation to the Gates foundation, and Google allowing free book downloads. The website also includes some random human interest stories on the list, such as "Boy Gets Rare Shot of California Condor." So take this list for what it's worth.

If we put this list together, we'd include the Dems taking back the House and the first woman to anchor a network newscast starting this year (even if she's not doing so hot in the ratings now).

In other news: Congratulations on being Time's Person of the Year. You beat out the founders of YouTube and the leader of Iran.
