Hello, music lovers! I’m all a-twitter because, once again – and
happily so, I’m in a whirl over the shows going on all over the place.
It’s especially groovy for yours truly because it helps me pull my
humble radio gig together – in that ragtag, scatterbrained method
I’m so used to relying on…
Making it on tonight’s playlist
is something that’s a treat for me, I must confess: I truly dig the
raucous, blues-inspired style of The Black Keys. Yes, I understand it’s not for
everybody, but damn, son, I need my fix! This dynamic duo, featuring
Dan Auerbach on guitar and vocals and Patrick Carney on drums,
will take the stage at La Zona Rosa tomorrow night.
No shortage of gigs from the
local peeps: You can swing by Emo’s tonight for music by Centro-Matic and Those Peabodys. If you’re on the Drag Saturday
evening, drop in at Hole In the Wall to catch Crawling with Kings. Lil’ Cap’n Travis is headlining a show Saturday at Beerland, with ’Til We’re Blue
Or Destroy and Moonlight Towers on the bill.
I’m also sending kudos out
to The
Channel and Golden Bear, both of whom are part of a great
line-up that includes Quien Es, Boom! and headliners Haunting Oboe Music at the Parish tomorrow night..
¡Fantastico!
Don’t forget the North
Loop Holiday Block Party on Sunday, and in honor of the occasion,
I’ll include Tammany Hall Machine on the playlist this evening; they’re
part of the list of bands playing at The Parlor that day, which includes Cavedweller,
Hex Dispensers, Manager’s Choice, The Seas and
The Texreys. The music starts in the afternoon, around 2 p.m., so
be sure to catch some music in between your holiday shopping.
Tammany Hall Machine will be
headlining a show next Thursday at the Continental Club, by the way, with Lomita and One Mississippi on the
bill.
Yeah, I’m already planning
ahead for next week, and that includes some rowdy Festivus celebrating
with the White Ghost Shivers at Red’s Scoot Inn, also
next Thursday. It’s a Festivus for the rest of us! (I never
tire of that expression – thanks very much, Mr. Frank Costanza.)
The calendar’s full, and
I have a feeling I’m barely scratching the surface. Whilst you’re
catching shows and parties about town this evening, keep your car stereo
on KUT
90.5, 11 p.m. to
3 a.m. Of course, in the words of RoboCop, thank you for your cooperation.
