Austin writer Karen Olsson will be at Barnes and Noble, Westlake this Thursday to promote the paperback release of her debut novel Waterloo. The book itself was heaped with praise upon its original release last year and furnishes entertaining commentary on our existence in Austin. It comes to you now in a safe, lightweight, affordable paperback version. What's not to love?
The novel is informed by Olsson's own experience living, working, and reporting in Austin. Waterloo -- which happens to be Austin's original moniker -- takes place in the town of the same name. Reporter Nick Lasseter, suffering through professional and personal malaise, uncovers an intriguing political plot with morally ambiguous players on both sides. Compelling and entertaining to its finish, Waterloo comes complete with hipsters, scenesters, politic wonks, and reporters who create a palpable sense of the diversity that dwells within the big state's small capital.
Sound interesting? Like the look of the book's cover? Well you're in luck because we're giving away a couple of copies of Karen Olsson's Waterloo. Just enter your name below and keep your fingers crossed. In case you don't win, and even if you do, be sure to stop by Barnes and Noble Westlake Thursday night at 7:00pm to see Karen Olsson.
Congratulations to winners Sean Mason and Luciana D’Andretta.
